Quotes and getting started
How much does a new fence cost?
It depends on the length, the material, the height and the ground. Send a few photos and a rough length and we will come back with a clear written quote, usually within a day.
Can you quote from photos?
Most of the time, yes. A wide photo of the whole fence line, a close up of anything damaged and a rough measurement is usually enough. Larger or more complex jobs get a site visit.
Do you remove the old fence?
Yes. Removal and disposal of the old fence can be included in your quote.
Which areas do you cover?
The whole Gold Coast, from Coolangatta in the south to Pimpama in the north and out towards the hinterland. If you are just outside that, ask anyway.
Who will actually build my fence?
Te, the owner. You deal with the same person from the quote through to the finished job.
What if my fence is shared with a neighbour?
In Queensland, neighbours generally share the cost of a sufficient dividing fence. It is a good idea to talk to your neighbour before work starts. We can provide a written quote you can share with them, and the Queensland Government's dividing fences information is a useful starting point.
How long does a typical job take?
A standard residential boundary fence is often done in a day or two once materials are on site. Larger runs, sloping blocks and gates can add time. Your quote will give you a realistic idea.
Timber or Colorbond?
Colorbond needs almost no maintenance and will not rot or attract termites. Timber has a warmer look, costs less to repair and can be painted or stained. We are happy to talk through which suits your property.
Do I need to be home while the work is done?
Not usually, as long as we have safe access to the work area and any pets are secured. We will confirm the details when the job is booked.
What about underground services?
Underground pipes, cables and irrigation need to be located before any digging. If you know of any near the boundary, let us know when you book so they can be marked and avoided.
How do I pay?
Payment terms are set out clearly on your written quote before any work begins.
Timber Fencing
How long does a timber fence last?
A well built treated pine fence will usually give many years of service, and hardwood longer again. Keeping garden beds and sprinklers off the palings and resealing every few years makes a big difference.
Can you build on a slope?
Yes. We step or rake the fence to follow the ground so the top line looks deliberate and the bottom stays tight to the soil.
Do you remove the old fence?
Yes. Removal and disposal can be included in your quote so the whole job is handled in one go.
Colorbond Fencing
Which Colorbond colours can I choose?
Any of the standard Colorbond fencing colours. If the fence is shared, it is worth agreeing the colour with your neighbour before the job is booked.
Is Colorbond better than timber?
It depends on what matters most to you. Colorbond needs almost no upkeep and will not rot. Timber costs less to repair and has a warmer look. We are happy to talk you through both.
Can you match an existing Colorbond fence?
Usually, yes. Send a photo of the existing fence and we will confirm the colour and profile before quoting.
Gates
My gate drags on the ground. Can you fix it?
Often, yes. A dragging gate is usually a loose post, worn hinges or a frame that has dropped. We will tell you honestly whether it can be repaired or is better replaced.
Can a gate be lockable?
Yes. We can fit a lockable latch or a padlock bolt when the gate is hung.
Do you build gates on their own?
Yes. You do not need a whole new fence to get a new gate.
Fence Repairs
Can you quote a repair from photos?
In most cases, yes. A wide photo of the whole fence and a close up of the damage is usually enough to give you a price.
Is it worth repairing an old fence?
If the posts are sound, a repair is usually the best value. If several posts have rotted at the base, a new fence often works out better over time. We will tell you which applies to yours.
Do you help after storms?
Yes. Get in touch with photos and we will let you know how soon we can get to you.
Let's get your fence sorted.
Send a few photos and a rough length, and you will have a clear written quote, usually within a day.
